Theo performs a series of solo recitals based on Bach’s cello suites. A gifted educator and speaker, Theo uses these recitals to explore both the music and cello-related themes, such as the history of the cello and the wood which makes up the cello.
Each recital is an hour, and is suitable for all sorts of venues, from large drawing rooms to churches.

Sample programmes
The History of the Cello: The cello was only invented in the 17th century. I’ll take you from the cello’s birth in Bologna to the instrument as we know it today, with pieces by Gabrielli, Bach and more.
Baroque-n-Roll – Dance in the 18th Century: Baroque music is based on dance music. Your feet will tap as we explore the various dances of the baroque, and what some great composers did with them.
Maturin’s Cello: I love Patrick O’Brien’s Master and Commander books. Stephen Maturin is the cello-playing ship’s surgeon, and we’ll reconstruct some of the music he and Capt. Jack might have played.
Woods of the Cello: Cellos and bows are made from all sorts of woods, which have all sorts of sounds. A recital for gardeners and woodworkers!
